Protecting Pearson: Public Access My Top Priority
The Pearson Air Museum complex located within the boundaries of historic Ft. Vancouver has been a shining example of a local community benefitting from a successful public-private management. Unfortunately this agreement has broken down over the last several months, and now the Pearson Air Museum sits empty – and our community is losing out.

I’m working hard with local residents, stakeholders and officials to fix this issue, and restore public access to this treasured venue. Read more about this issue here.

My savings bill: cut salaries of congress, president and vice president by 10%

I recently reintroduced the “Savings Starts With Us” Act -- a proposal to reduce salaries of Members of Congress, the President and Vice President by ten percent. Our national debt affects families and individuals in very personal ways. We as elected officials should show that solving America’s biggest challenge is personal to us, too. Read more here.

Economic Impact Study Needed on CRC

The current Columbia River Crossing design imposes height restrictions on current river users that will significantly impact region’s navigation, economy, and jobs. I joined a delegation of Members of Congress from the Northwest U.S. in formally requesting that the U.S. Coast Guard conduct an economic impact study on the CRC prior to issuing any possible permits for the project. Out in Naselle last week, I had the honor and privilege of meeting a true hero, William V. Wuorinen. 60 years later, I was pleased to help him receive the Silver Star Award he earned for his heroic actions during the Korean war. Read more about Wuorinen’s story here.
