Honoring heroic sacrifice

It was a great honor to be part of military veteran Craig Robinson’s pinning ceremony a few weeks ago. Thirty-three years ago, Craig helped wounded and dying soldiers right after the bombing of the Marine barracks in Beirut. I had the distinct privilege to present the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal to Craig at the Veterans Memorial Museum in Chehalis.

Recognizing and honoring our veterans is one of the most humbling and inspiring parts of my job. Please check out this article to learn more about his brave and sacrificial service to our county and fellow service members. Read more about Craig's account here

My bill to protect coastal jobs passes the U.S. House

I’m pleased that my colleagues in the U.S. House passed the permanent extension of the tri-state agreement that is imperative for the future success of the West Coast Dungeness crab fishery.  This bill will bring certainty to an industry that helps support 60,000 maritime jobs in Washington state. Ideas, questions and comments about health care at my Vancouver coffee town hall

Thank you to all who braved the bad weather to attend my recent coffee town hall in Vancouver -- I valued our discussion on ways to make quality health care accessible to all residents of Southwest Washington. It’s so important for me to hear your opinions and ideas; I consider it a privilege to listen to you and work toward providing solutions for all of us.

I’ll continue to work not just on providing families relief from the most flawed parts of the Affordable Care Act, but also making sure we advance solutions that make affordable, quality health care a reality for everyone. Improving health care for all Washington residents

Recently, I joined with my other colleagues who represent Washington in the U.S. House in responding to a letter from Governor Jay Inslee and Insurance Commissioner Mike Kreidler about health care in Washington.

While we agree that all Washington state residents deserve access to quality health care, my congressional colleagues and I recognize that there are too many failures in the Affordable Care Act (ACA) to achieve that goal. We are working to do better. As we repeal the ACA, we are simultaneously working to put more patient-centered solution in its place. You can read our full letter here
