Focus on Jobs: Affordable Energy

Residents of Southwest Washington continue to anxiously hope for economic recovery – and jobs.  Fortunately, this region offers a boon to job creators in the form of clean, renewable and affordable hydropower.

Earlier this week, I toured Merwin Dam on the Lewis River to see their operations and hear about challenges to the hydropower industry. 

My efforts with the House Energy Action Team  (HEAT) initiative are focused on promoting all forms of energy to make energy prices as affordable as possible.  Protecting and promoting hydropower will provide a key that is critical to unlocking our sluggish economy.

FACT: More than 70 percent of the electricity made in Washington state is from hydropower.

FACT: Hydropower is currently the cheapest way to generate electricity.
