| Honoring Our Fallen Soldiers |
|
We remain forever grateful to all of those who have helped preserve the greatest of all nations, and on this Memorial Day, we remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. We receive somber reminders that there are those who wish to end the freedom and opportunity America represents. But whenever threats to our democracy have risen throughout history, bravery and valor by American men and women have risen higher.
Just yesterday I visited the hallowed grounds of Arlington National Cemetery. Joined by many of my colleagues in the Congressional Women’s Caucus, we held a wreath laying ceremony to remember the servicewomen who have died in the line of duty. I also helped recognize exceptional officers from each branch of the military who
today are working to keep our country safe. I had the honor of recognizing First Class Petty Officer Cindy Huamani, 2010’s OPNAV Sailor of the Year.
Please join me this Memorial Day in remembering our fallen soldiers, and thanking those who have answered the call to defend our freedom.

This week in Congress, the House passed and I was proud to support legislation to help keep our promises to the men and women who have served in our military.
• Increasing cost-of-living compensation to disabled veterans (H.R. 1407)
• Enhancing tuition and education benefits for veterans (H.R. 1383)
