U.S. Representative Jaime Herrera Beutler shared today that the Lugar Center and Georgetown University McCourt School of Public Policy’s Bipartisan Index ranked her as the 15th most bipartisan member of the U.S. House out of 438 members.

The Bipartisan Index, which most recently ranked members of Congress for their work in 2017, “is a non-partisan tool that measures the degree to which Senators and Representatives work across party lines on legislation.” The Lugar Center states: “… a consistently high score is a strong indication that a legislator is prioritizing problem solving and open to working with the other party when possible.” Additional details on the index are available here: http://www.thelugarcenter.org/ourwork-Bipartisan-Index.html

“In an era when too many politicians are getting stuck in their own ideological corner, this bipartisan ranking means far more to me than just a scholarly datapoint – this is a reflection of the efforts I’ve made and the results I’ve gotten working with anyone, Republican or Democrat, who will help me with solutions that make life better in Southwest Washington,” Jaime said. “Since I was first elected to office, I’ve been laser-focused on creating better economic opportunities and solving problems for folks from Vancouver to Chehalis to Goldendale to Seaview, and whether that’s standing up for real health care solutions, protecting our native salmon runs, increasing survival rates for expectant moms or preserving manufacturing jobs, I’m proud of what I’ve been able to accomplish.”
