Jaime Herrera Beutler’s bipartisan fishing jobs bill, the Revitalizing the Economy of Fisheries in the Pacific (REFI) Act, was passed today by a vote of 300-119 in the U.S. House of Representatives. Upon passage of the bill, Jaime released the following statement:
“I am very pleased to see the U.S. House move this important fishing jobs bill one step closer to becoming law. It's a great example of a bipartisan, commonsense solution to support 3,000 hard-working Americans' jobs— many of which are right here in Pacific County,” said Jaime. “The REFI Act will grant fairer loan terms to fishermen who operate in the West Coast Groundfish Fishery, providing much-needed relief for these struggling businesses. It's good for local economies by helping keep businesses afloat, and will increase the likelihood that fishermen are able to pay back the entirety of their loans, which is good for the American taxpayer.”
