On Tuesday, October 14, Congresswoman Jaime Herrera Beutler was in Raymond as the VA’s mobile medical unit made its first trip to Southwest Washington to offer basic medical services to veterans. The mobile medical unit’s visit is the first of what will be quarterly visits to Pacific County, and follows more than two years of effort by Jaime to bring this underutilized resource to her region to serve rural veterans. “On behalf of all the ex-service men and women who have waited so long to now see this facility become a reality, the American Legion Post 150 wants to extend our heartfelt thanks to Jaime for her effort in helping make it possible,” said veteran Kenneth Grimm, Adjutant, American Legion Post 150. “Pacific County and our local area have always been among the leaders in numbers of people in uniform. It is only fitting that this kind of a facility is finally available for their use. With the obscene price of gas we cannot be driving to Tacoma, Chehalis, or other out of town locations.” “This was a long time coming! The veterans I’ve spoken to were extremely relieved that they won’t have to travel more than one hundred miles for flu shots and other basic services,” said Jaime. “Now that the mobile medical unit will be here on a regular basis, more and more of our rural veterans will be able to access this convenient resource.” More details on Jaime’s efforts to bring the mobile medical unit to Southwest Washington are available by clicking here. |
