In a bipartisan letter to the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT), a group of federal and state elected officials from Southwest Washington asked WSDOT to assess the current safety level and provide options for immediate upgrades to address potential hazards on the I-5 Columbia River bridge.  The letter was signed by U.S. Representative Jaime Herrera Beutler (R-WA), Washington State Senators Don Benton (R-17th LD) and Ann Rivers (R-18th LD), and Washington State Representatives Paul Harris (R-17th LD), Jim Moeller (D-49th LD), Liz Pike (R-18th LD), Monica Stonier (D-17th LD), Brandon Vick (R-18th LD) and Sharon Wylie (D-49th LD).

In addition, the letter calls for “all interested parties to come back to the table and put forward a plan that both meets the needs of the region and enjoys the support of our constituents.”
