Jaime Herrera Beutler announced this week that she has hired Chehalis resident Julie Balmelli-Powe as a Field Representative in her congressional office. Julie will be based in Lewis County where she’ll hold regular office hours to assist residents, and will also assist Jaime with issue outreach in northern counties of Southwest Washington’s 3rd Congressional district.
“I’m fortunate to have Lewis County native Julie Balmelli-Powe join my staff,” said Jaime. “Julie’s wealth of knowledge on Southwest Washington issues, families and communities will be a tremendous asset to residents and to me. Her active work in the community shows that she is a good listener and very accessible – both traits that will help her in this new role. Julie has stepped away from her role as the Chehalis representative on the Flood Authority to avoid schedule conflicts with her time, and she can now focus on assisting folks via my office. I am grateful to gain her knowledge as my new staff member.”
Julie Balmelli-Powe is a lifelong resident of Chehalis, with deep family roots in Southwest Washington. A 1986 graduate of Washington State University, Julie’s family owns and operates Balmelli Logging and Livestock, also located in Chehalis, where Julie has served as office manager. She serves as a board member on the Lewis County Farm Bureau and on One Voice, a grassroots organization dedicated to finding a unified solution to flooding. In her spare time, she volunteers to help at her children’s school and with their sports teams.
“I’m also very pleased to offer residents of Southwest Washington another location where they can seek assistance from my staff,” Jaime continued. “With this second, centrally-located office, our services will be much more convenient and accessible to folks in Lewis, Thurston, Cowlitz and Pacific Counties.”
Starting on April 2, the new office will be open every Tuesday from 11:00am – 2:00pm. The office is located at City of Chehalis—City Hall Building, 350 N. Market Blvd., Chehalis 98532. During these hours, residents can drop in without an appointment. Appointments can be also be arranged at other times by calling (360) 695-6292 or visiting www.jaimehb.house.gov/contact.
