Congresswoman Herrera Beutler today released a statement following the Environmental Protection Agency’s decision to exclude biomass for at least three years from its list of regulated energy sources:

“In Southwest Washington, biomass has the potential to bring jobs, affordable energy and a boost to our local economy. Thankfully, the EPA chose to further consider its classification of biomass before imposing job-killing regulations on this promising source of energy. While I’m happy with Wednesday’s decision, I will keep an eye on the EPA’s assessment process going forward. A positive, permanent decision would send signal all of the various businesses and industries involved with biomass that they can begin growing and hiring people.”
