PHOTOS: Jaime Herrera Beutler Awards 2012 Congressional Art Winners
Vancouver,
May 18, 2012 -
Last Friday, Jaime Herrera Beutler announced the winners of the Southwest Washington Congressional Art Competition. The top three high school artists joined Jaime at her Vancouver office to receive their awards and celebrate their artistic achievements.
The first place winner, Kyuri Kim of Mountain View High School in Vancouver, will fly to Washington, DC in June when her painting is hung in the U.S. Capitol building for one year. The second and third place finishers have the option of displaying their art in the congresswoman’s office for the year.
“I’m incredibly proud of all the young artists who entered the contest. This year’s art competition committee had very difficult decisions to make with all of the tremendous submissions by our region’s high schoolers,” said Jaime. “It was an honor to meet all three of our top finishers, and I look forward to seeing Kyuri again when her painting is hung in the Congressional art competition display gallery in Washington, DC.”
